This year, we created a new framework of awards to better represent and support the achievements of our membership. The two-stage judging process consisted of a shortlisting followed by a final judging panel which included award winning maritime journalist Felicity Landon, author of The Art of Heavy Transport, Marco van Daal and the highly experienced industry consultant, Susan Oatway.
We are proud of how our Members interact with one another. From how they collaborate and facilitate global projects to how they enable new business opportunities to prosper. We welcome, support and actively encourage these partnerships and so our first award was for Co-Project between 2 Members. Our winners for this award displayed great teamwork when they successfully transported a cryogenic tank – C.H. Robinson and Actanis Project Cargo. The award was collected by Berenice Pacheco of Actanis Project Cargo.
I am sure we all pride ourselves on being a good employer to work for. But what do we do to endear ourselves to those who work for us representing our companies globally across our growing network and beyond? For our Employer of the Year Award we received some fabulous nominations which the judges enjoyed reading through and we have to say that all of our finalists deserve recognition as being great employers. But we couldn’t ignore all the wonderful photographs that our winner BEE Logistics Corporation in Cambodia and Myanmar submitted as part of their nomination. A picture really tells a story and we loved seeing those happy moments and proud faces in each of them. Project Manager at BEE Logistics, Sandy received the award on behalf of the company.
Next, was the Innovation Award of the Year. At PCN we hope that by encouraging and showcasing advances we can share good practises across our network. This can range from simple physical measures to more complex technical solutions that can improve effectiveness. Our winner did just that with their development of a new online platform called Trakking which focusses on Transparency, Traceability and Transformation to connect trucking companies with customers. We are delighted to announce the recipients of this award is Canaan Shipping in Canada and Samuel Wong, their Business Development Manager, collected the award.
The Environmental Award of The Year shows that balancing operational complexities and challenges can be difficult enough but when you add the importance of environmental concerns, things start to get harder. It is not only important to recognise the environmental impact that our businesses can leave behind but equally important is what we do to minimise that impact. Both finalists DC Logistics in Brazil and GRUBER in Germany really impressed the judges with their efforts in this regard and we are happy to announce our 2019 winner is GRUBER Logistics in Germany.
Our finalists for Project Forwarder of the Year wowed our judges with their successful completion of complex and challenging OOG projects. But we can only have one winner and this year it is Central Oceans Singapore who win for their transloading of a 660tn heat recovery boiler from barge to ship using RORO. Please click here for a video showing the entire, impressive operation. Central Oceans Operations Manager, Allie Waggie was in attendance to accept the award (photographed above).
We want to focus on future talent and look at how we can develop that aptitude across the network. We can see the great work our members are already making in this regard and we are delighted to announce the winner of our Under 30s Award of the Year – Kira Seeley from CMX Global Logistics in Australia. Kira impressed our judging panel with all her achievements attained at such an early point in her career and it is great to see her representing CMX on their many global projects. We are definitely looking forward to hearing more about Kira in the future. Our judges also commended our runner up Mazen Sabry representing First Global Logistics in Egypt. Mazen is becoming a well-known name amongst our members, creating valuable opportunities across the network.
Many congratulations to all this years winners and good luck to all our members for next years awards which will be presented at our 2020 Annual Summit in Beijing.
